A Geographical Study of Crop Combinations in the Western Maharashtra Region (M.S.)
Abstract
Agriculture is a backbone of the Indian economy. Its play a vital role on the development of rural economy of India. As per 2021 more than 55 percent work force engaged in agricultural sectors and contributed 14-17 percent GDP of the country. Many allied other activities depends on the agricultural sectors like a Trade, Transportation and Agro based Industries. Crop combination is a concept of growing different types of crops under a same field. It is the analysis of the total percentage land area occupied by various crops in a given region in an agricultural year. The main objective of the present study is to find out and analysis crop combination region in Western Maharashtra region of Maharashtra state, by using J. C. Weavers method. According to Weavers method of crop combination the study region is under the five crops combination these are Jawar, Sugarcane, Pulses, Rice and Bajra. At district level Pune, Satara, Sangli and Solapur district falls under the five crop combination while Kolhapur district falls under the two crop combination.
